[NERF] Painting an elite stryfe nerf gun

Some days ago I painted a nerf gun. When I went into that topic, I realized, that there is a huge community wich is using nerf guns like paintball markers or airsoft guns. They also upgrade and style their nerf guns, wich I think is really cool.
I took an elite stryfe, wich I combined with an extensional stock, so that it looks more realistic.

I wanted to paint it in a camo theme in green and brown colors. And because of the blue and orange case I decided to paint the gun from the outside and the inside. In order to do that I needed to open the gun and disassemble all the internal parts. When doing that I realized, that this nerf gun is alot more complicated than I thought and the reassembly turned out to become more like a puzzle, but in the end it ran again. 😉
In order to get a really nice layer I took some fine grained sandpaper and prepared the surface of the gun for the painting. For the first layer I took a can of nato green, wich ran almost empty. The first layer is the most important one, because after the painting you would see some blue or orange color left.

The camo pattern was achieved with some painters tape, wich I sticked randomly on the gun. After that I painted the gun with a can of dark brown. This layer did not take much time. Another layer followed with a lighter brown.

I tried to give the nerf gun some kind of a used look. In order to do that some of the parts and also the magazines were drybrushed with boltgun metal.

Finally I sealed the surface with purity seal from . The reassembly was some kind of a riddle, as I mentioned earlier. I should have done more pictures from the disassembly. During that I realized, that painting moving internal parts isn’t such a good idea, because the layers of paint result in stuck parts. And so I cleaned some of the moving parts, so they can moce smoothly inside the gun.
